WordPress Themes

Just 2 of my favorite themes!

This theme may look plain and boring, but looks are deceiving. This theme can go from 5 columns to one in a few clicks of the mouse. You can easily go down a long lists of options to customize just about anything from fonts used, color of text and links all without knowing any type of CSS. Add the Page Builder by SiteOrigin (listed below) plugin and you really can't beat this theme. Also the forum for this theme is awesome with people who are willing to help out with all of the extra stuff you might want to do.

If you're just starting out get this theme.

This is theme I currently use here on the site. I switched to this theme for a few reasons. The first reason is that I use quite a few plugins from the same people who created this theme, so for future support reasons I switched to streamline the site. Second reason is that the support for the theme is timely and helpful. I haven't had a problem yet they couldn't solve. Finally they have a free and a paid version( spend a few bucks and get the paid version) so I was able to try it out for a while and then upgrade when I wanted.

You need to know a little about CSS if you're going to use this theme. Even if some of the options are as simple as clicking buttons, if you want more control CSS will be what you use. The reason I switched to this theme was the mobile support. This theme easily looks just as good on mobile devices as it does on the desktop.

Go get this theme if you feel you can get used to basic CSS ( you can, by the way),

WordPress Plugins

This is a great plugin to use when you want different layouts for your blog pages and posts. I used this plugin to get the different rows and columns on this very page. Download this plugin and try it out. You won't be disappointed.

Need some easy to use widgets. This is the bundle to download. After I use the pagebuilder plugin to build my page layout I then user the different widgets offered in this plugin to fill in all of the data. Easy to use. Get it here.

If you want to create pretty and easy to follow links then this plugin is the answer. All of the links for the themes and plugins on this page all use Pretty Link links. This makes it easier for my audience to get an idea of where they are going and gives me data and lets me tracks clicks on each link. Do you absolutely need this plugin? Probably not. Should you grab it anyway? Yes you should. Click here for Pretty Link.

Web Tools

I use these tools almost everyday!

Canva is a great website to pick up some nice photos to use on your blog. There are free photos, but there are some that cost $1.00. Go check out the site and get some nice photos for your site.

At some point, you will probably hear the phrase

The money is in the list.

I don't know if that is true or not, but if you want to get people subscribed to your list then I suggest you try MailChimp.
